Second Wind is a health app from Up N Flames Studio, a brand of EpicShifts LLC ("we", "us"). The short version: your health data stays on your phone. Second Wind has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never see what you log.
1. What stays on your phone
Everything you enter or that Second Wind reads: weight, body measurements, food, fasting, sleep, water, medications and routines, workouts, and your profile (name, sex, birthdate, height, goals). It is stored in the app's private storage on your device. We have no server that receives it and no copy of it.
You can export it to a file you control (Settings → Backup) and delete all of it at any time (Settings → Erase all data, or delete the app).
2. Apple Health and Health Connect
If you turn on Health sync, Second Wind reads weight, sleep, steps, workouts, active energy, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, VOâ‚‚ max and body fat, and writes your weigh-ins, logged food and water. This data moves only between the app and Health on your device. It is never sent to us, never used for advertising or marketing, and never shared or sold. You can turn access off at any time in the Health or Health Connect settings.
3. What leaves your phone, and why
- Food search. When you search for a food by name, the search text is sent to our search service, which passes it to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central database and returns the results. We do not log or store search text or anything that identifies you. Our service runs on Cloudflare, which handles the network request under its own privacy policy. If you enter your own USDA key in Settings, searches go straight to USDA instead.
- Barcode lookups. A scanned barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts to find the product.
- Optional home scale hub. If you set one up, the app talks to that server on your own network. It is yours; we have no access to it.
- Tips. Optional tips are processed by Apple or Google. We receive no payment details.
That is the complete list. Nothing about your body, food or health is included in any of these requests beyond the search text or barcode itself.
4. Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your device. There is no push service and no notification server.
5. Not for children
Second Wind is for adults 18 and over and does not knowingly collect anything from children.
6. Not medical advice
Second Wind gives general information to support healthy habits. It is not a medical device and does not replace a doctor.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for any change to what leaves your phone, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
